Default Retrospective fitment of Isofix ?

I am looking to get a Seat Leon for my son, budget means earlier ie 2002/3 and mid model range , not the base S.
Local Seat dealer tells me that the Isofix points were an option around 02/03 on the mid spec' cars so if that was the case ,.......is it possible to get an Isofix kit and fit it to a car that didn't have it as an option choice back in 02/03. I am thinking that if it was offered as a buyer option then the car must be set up for install.

Any ideas ?

Thanks

I know Audi did a retro fit. So I'd imagine being part of the VAG group Seat would do to.
I aws lloking into it once, and found that the BMW mini owners were just ordering the brackets and fitting themselves.
I'd say they can definetley do it.

Ford offer the same for the Focus, and you can buy the brackets from them for about £20 IIRC, they just bolt into a pre-made captive nut under the rear seats somewhere once you remove some covers.

Worth asking a dealer about them anyway.

I haven't bothered as I think std seats are just as safe as Isofix and not as heavy/bulky.

As DW says, if you fit non ISOFIX seats properly (many don't) they are as safe as ISOFIX seats.

We went for a rear facing "older kids" (1-6 years) seat from Sweden - it's nicer than our own car seat and apparently five times safer than a front facing one. Called a Britax Multi-Tech - worth a look.

Thanks everyone for the replies.
Car is for my son, not me. He has baby and 3 yr old and all the seats are isofix, although the seat for old child can be used with seatbelts.

Cheers
