I don't know if anyone can give me a figure for this but son parked up his 2002 1.6 Petrol Fiat Stilo and said the engine died with a metallic crunch. AA diagnosed terminal engine failure...cambelt turns but noise is bad !
His budget is very tight and he can't really afford to have a garage strip and rebuild and so I just wondered what he (make that me) might have to pay for a replacement unit. Need to weigh the cost of that against just scrapping and buying something else. Poor so and so just forked out for new tyres and exhaust so it passed the mot !

Given that the car's probably only worth about £1000 in good nick, it's probably not worth the hassle.
