quattro rally slag: a <11k bit of fun?
Just spotted this for sale at a dealer in Sheffield. I know it appears to be mechanically standard, but it's got a full roll cage etc, so probably a bit of a weekend fun project for someone. Or is it just a pile of junk?

The fact that car is rally liveried has little to do with its sale price, that is just what good q's go for nowadays!

Now that Integrale is a lovely thing.
If I had that, I'd want a gold membership of the RAC and a friend who owned a very well equipped garage.
And 5 numbers and the bonus ball.
And Angelina Jolie as well for the hell of it

my best mate in the 80's at school- his dad was phil short- the co-driver with david llewlyn--- driving the original 80's quattros and metro 6R4's- the group B rally cars before they were banned etc. lombard RAC days.
had a good few trips as a passenger with him driving- giving it hell over the ilkley moor roads in yorkshire.
even now- I have never been in a car with such a good driver.
bumped into him last yr (Dad) he had an original 80's quattro on display at a car show- valued at approx £70K I think.
but it was a SWB- works rally audi- not a stickered one !!!
sorry- not a helpful psot re: the car- just brought up happy memories

Well I happened to be in the area yesterday and popped in for a look. The quattro was originally white, but re-painted in rally colours by a previous owner apparently to sit in an Audi showroom. Underneath the glossy paintwork, it's in "fair" condition. OK to use, but certainly something you could improve on in your own time, if you were so inclined. The roll cage makes at least one of the rear seats unusable. The interior is good (apart from the rally mods such as battery cut-out and fire extinguisher) and the exhaust pipe is a non-standard stainless steel aftermarket one (standard exhausts usued to cost 1000 quid to replace!).
As a former integrale owner, I also checked out the yellow EVO2 mentioned above. It was imported in about 1997, so has spent nearly all of its life in UK. It's obviously been well looked after. The engine bay is very clean, but one inner front wing looks like it may have been repaired at some point, but I may be wrong. Very nice condition inside. Sadly they don't have the original alloy wheels for it, and it so it you'd need to source a set to make it look right. All-in-all a fine example in the best colour, but, as with all integrales, you will always be wondering whether you will actually get to your destination without it breaking down!
I also looked at the Ferrari 550 Maranello. That was in magnificent condition inside and out with flawless paintwork, so, given the choice, that would be the pick of the three for me!
