Reminds me of my early days going to Newquay in a Campervan, excellent colour.

...and John, the car above has a far superior power to weight ratio than the GTR. 425bhp, normally aspirated and 1088kgs. Can't be all bad!

I have no idea what it is, tell us more.

What is the 0-200, 0-300km/h time?

It is a re-engineered Porsche - basically taking various best bits and remanufacturing the car.

The chassis is a '70s shell, stitch welded and then a carbon fibre body laid over the top. 993 engine, bored and tuned.

Various other antique bits cheery picked and remanufactured in modern materials.

0-60 is 3.9s
0-100 is 8.5s

So a kind of antique track special for Porsche lovers!

Yes please.

Hated 911 since the 996 onwards; too lardy. Just a rear engined 928 these days IMO

Still miss the old man's 1987 Supersports. Driven various 996s and 997s and yes they are faster, but they just don't have the rawness of the older 911s

Excellent. Would suit those who have a thing for old Porsches but like modern performance. I take it has the suspension, brakes, tyres to match?

Yes - Brembo's all around; proper suspension. Oh, and it revs to a screamer 8,000rpm (which is not bad for a six cylinder 3.8l engine).

Chris Harris had a similar car built - there was a fabulous video of him driving it on Driver's Republic - again I would guess at a six figure cost. There are a few specialists in doing this. Very light, super modern re-engineering, powerful and fast. Harris's car was built by specialist Tuthill. Here it is showing the perfect balance of a well sorted 911.

I've got to say though, as beautiful (in a modern-style) as the new breed of Porsches are (and I love the GT2 and Turbo), I've got a REAL soft spot for the classic old Porsches

They're "classic" in a way the Ferraris etc of the same era just look old - it's my aim to have an oldy one day (still got a good 30-odd years!)

That looks like a total monster - I fear that for most of us, that picture is the closest we'll ever get to seeing one
Very interesting - would be nice to see Porsche themselves give it some type of approving "nod"....

I think the thread title should not be... I need tissues...

But... I got issues...

That car is a Beetle, and an amphibious one at that, what sort of balloons has it been shod with on the rears.

1088 kilos is heavy! My old 944 weighs less than that and theyre heavyweights compared to pre-impact 911s.
