Most reliable car you have owned?
Well I have just taken the for sale signs down out of the subaru after the cambelt went in my ultra reliable audi a4 Yet after owning nearly 25 cars over the years That chocolate pistoned rice machine has not let me down in 5 years, despite numerous track beatings.
Can anyone beat 5 years in the same car without a break down

Peugeot 306 TD 1998, bought new, still running sound now.
Bought nothing for it other than an exhaust/tyres and service parts.
I offered to buy Mrs a new car using it on the scrapage scheme, but she was having none of it....she has a Pet name for it too.
98000mls I think.

1.8 X reg Focus or the 1.5 SOHC Vtec Civic I had when I was 18. Both never really went wrong in well over 20000 miles of flat-out-everywhere driving. Didn't even service them.

A Y reg Seat Leon TDi SE. From new to 142k and only needed routine servicing to keep it going strong. I gave the intake manifold a clean out after 120k and there was plenty of black sludge in there (so I blanked off the ERG valve to stop any further build up).

I loved my Honda Accord type R had it for just over 5 years, not one thing needed other than a few service items, never missed a beat
Also had so much interest when I sold it, was really sad to see it go . when im in the scoob I still miss that vtec scream it used to rev to 8000 rpm

Toyota Yaris 1.4 D-4D diesel I've owned the car for 4 years and covered 30,000 miles and only replaced 4 tyres. It costs me £1000 per year to insure, tax, service and fill up with diesel to drive 7500 miles.

I must be as unlucky as "Unlucky Alf" (From the Fast Show if anyone remember's it LOL) never had a car that's done more than 18 month's before something's gone wrong. Granted sometime's it was only little things that I fixed myself for little or no cost but still. My Mondeo ST24 was pretty reliable, water pump impeller blade failed which is common but other than that it was just the usual bit's like pad's, disc's, tyre's & filter. Good 'ol' Ford V6

Fiat seicento which was my first car never went wrong.
Ford fiesta zetec-s did shed loads of miles nearly 100k and only service items
- now have a mg zt which is coming upto 60k with no break downs (touch wood) although i keep a close eye on the coolant.

The one car that beats all my cars hands down based on purchase price and running costs and reliability is my Rover 1997 214 Si. Bought for £770 3 years ago and still running spot on now with just an occasional top up of oil and coolant. Completely abused and it doesn't care. All it's had in 3 years is a new radiator which was cheap anyway.
The one car I owned for 3 and a bit years and never spent a penny on repairs is my first my98 classic scoob, 100% bullet proof. Serviced it as per the schedule and it was perfect. Got another my98 now and it's the same.

I hate to say it, but so far it is the MG
The scooby popped its first turbo after a few months use (58k miles when i bought it)
Infact, the subaru was the most unreliable thing i have ever owned to be honest!

Just out of curiosity was it an import? I firmly believe the UK ones although less power and toys are far more reliable. Always seems the tuned (read P1) and imports are the ones that blow up/break down the most.

My00 scooby never let me down in 4 1/2 yrs. I have bought a new engine, gear box, 6 exhaust could never find the right noise, but it still ran all the way to the clinic with missing 3rd 35miles, 15 miles with a spun bearing.

Volvo 850 T5, totally reliable and a lovely ownership expreience.
Old Shape Saab 9-3, only blot to its copy book was the Headgasket, just re-torqued the head and was fine again.
Metro 1.0 Clubman, battered, slid, thrashed, set fire to it welding it for MOT, never failed.
Fiat Coupe turbo, nah, heap of unrelaible poo.

My Saab 9k Aero has been great. Aside from wear and tear maintenance, it hasnt put a foot wrong (165k miles total, 75k of mine). Runs about 450bhp and goes like a train.
Most short lived was my wifes Rover 25 - blew head gasket within a few months.
