Considering Evo X FQ300 (nearly new)
Considering going to the dark side, mainly because they're trying to give them away (nearly).
Friend went into test the FQ400 before deciding on a GTR and they basically took money off the price before he even haggled, literally as he walked through the door. And offered 0% finance on new cars (with 50% deposit), but then offered to finance the deposit at measly 6%APR, making it 3% APR for the whole thing (minus any money you put in yourself). Not sure over what time periods though, need to check. He also seems to think they'll do it on nearly new cars too, but I need to substantiate this also.
In contrast to VW who wanted to charge me £21k for an 08 R32 at 12% apr, pfff..
And if that wasn't enough, they're throwing in 2 years free servicing!!
They've got nearly new Fq300's on their site from £23-25k upwards. So if the above is true its a stonking deal..
Anyone else bought one recently (new or used), how kind of deal did you get and what should I aim for.
Testing on Friday. I'll be able to substantiate these wild claims.
And as a side question, another mate has the previous model, and they did a dealer upgraded to next model up (i.e. mapped, exhaust, intakes) as an incentive to buy, I'd pay the asking price if they up'd one to FQ330 or 360,400,500 etc

On a side note saw my first RS in green yesterday. Damn that is horrible - looks like one of those triangular chocs out of a box of Quality Street. Blue/white much better.

AWESOME chassis and handling......... but WELL underpowered imo. I test drove a X FQ360 last week and it was as flat as a witches tit, so I am not sure where the hell they get circa 355bhp from. I spoke to a tuner about the X FQ360 and he said that's what they feel like. Bloody heavy at 1.56 ton though.

I was always put off by the weight and a small engine, plus the early promise of stronger internals that would do 500 BHP no problems seems to have faded with the piston ring end gap being too tight. Also the five speed gearbox is too short leaving a buzzy cruise, and the six speed SST breaks.
Despite this I was going to try one, but my local dealer didn't have one on the road, and I didn't want them to PDI their showroom one and then feel I had to buy it if I liked it as the price was too high and there seemed to be few deals to be had and very low stock in the UK as the bottom had fallen out the market with the strong Yen giving too high a price.
So instead I bought a GTR, which is superb apart from the tyres which are silly for the wet.
I still haven't even been in a X moving, but I think it would be quite sensible to run compared to a GTR, if you bought at much less than list either new or nearly new.

John,
Out of the box, the X handling felt leagues ahead of a Hatch STi, as regards to it being pointy and direct. I gave it beans down a cross country road at silly speeds and although it waved at the backend, keeping your boot in and the car just corrected itself. I was quite amazed.
Just felt very lethargic/flat on acceleration. Not something I would suspect the GTR feels like!

Well the other car I was considering was an S3 with Haldex controller to sort out understeer and Revo map giving it approx 300bhp.
Then I thought, buggar it, why not just get an evo which comes like that out the box for the same money. Especially if Mitsu will 'upgrade' it at the dealers wihout affecting the warranty.

i think 360 is easy from these
i also think they look pretty boring on the road unless in white
you also need your eyes testing ,the green RS rocks

I had passenger ride in a EVO X FQ360 during a trackday a couple of months ago, the car was on loan to Piston Heads and was being driven by one of their journalist's.
I agree with Shaun about it feeling flat but it clung to the track like nothing ive ever been in. It was pissing down with rain and the thing just didnt move
..........but i couldnt work out how much of it was his driving skill and how much was the car, it all looked to easy.

Obviously it needs to be remapped to about 400bhp then to make it interesting
I thought this looked pretty good:
