Default Z3's Which

One is the best to have? Reliability,running costs, Insurance, recalls?
Anyone own one? Whats it like to live with?

Not the most well thought of Beemer around but I'd go for the 3.0 litre if you MUST have one...

I'd honestly rather have a late MX5, an S2000 or an elderly Boxster.

A 1.9 is cheap and reliable. Not as good as the MX5 / Boxster but cheap and German

I'd have a 2.8 cheaper than the 3.0 which was only made 2000/2001. The 2.8 straight 6 is the same as used in the E36 328I which is a fantastic lump, bullet proof and packs a punch even in a E36. So can imagine in a Z3 would make for a rewarding drive.

The Z3 is a much cheaper propositon over a S2000, boxter, both in terms of purchase price and very possibly long term with respect to service costs, especially if you don't mind self servicing.
