Another which car shall I get thread?
Need quality advice and opinions, hence turning to you folks
Choices are:
Golf Gti (MK5) with or without DSG - Great cars to chuck around, lacking a bit of power (but turbo, so easy to extract more), scared that I will get bored of the DSG.
R32 (MK 5) with or without DSG - Again quality car, lovely noise, bit nose heavy and again scared that I will get bored of the DSG.
BMW 130i M sport - manual, rwd, better build quality, peach of an engine, better residuals, however bit more cramped image/looks lacking?
Let us know if I'm talking crap! But I am bloody confused.
Cheers
Jay

I had a similar choice. I have owned a Scooby in the past and didnt want another for the simple reason they are basic inside and god damm awfull on motorways. My choices were Golf GTI, R32, Cupra or Focus ST. Everyone said GTI is far better than R32. In the end money was a big factor, the VWs were big money and i really wanted a 3 door.
So i am now collecting my ST on Monday and i cant wait
Driven the car twice, its great fun, sounds great and has plenty of toys inside

Own a 2008 Ford Focus 2.0 Zetec and it is awful, so even though it is a very different car to the ST, I want something with better residuals, quality and oomph.? I do like German rides.
I'm sure the ST is a great car, but so so put off by owning another Ford at the moment.

Mk6 car is out so i think you would regret a Mk5 a year or so down the line.
TTS perhaps, 0-100 in 12.5, looks good, retains good residuals, Audi build quality and badge..
Lane Pearson Automotive Group Ltd : STUNNING AUDI TTS COUPE
Or a BMW 135/335i, twin turbo 305bhp and with a remap beats the V8 414hp M3

To add some balance -
I went from a modded (classic) Scoob to an Audi S4 Avant to this.
Looked at the S3, and the R32 - hate the BMW with a passion. Liked the ST, but too cheap-looking inside (imho)
A/B'ed the S3 back-to-back with the Golfs. Couldn't see where the extra £15K or so was going and I WANTED the Audi.
Drove the GTi next (same road - dealerships are next to each other) - MUCH better, albeit slightly down on power - not by much in real-terms though)
The R32 was just big and heavy. Nice torque & easy to drive, but if I wanted that, I would have stuck with my S4!!LOL!!
Hence my mk5 GTI on the drive. Looked at the mk6, but in essence it's really a mk5.5..... not enough of any improvement over the mk5 to warrant it imho. Certainly not in the same way that the mk5 was streets ahead of the mk4....

Just purchased an R32 with DSG. Maybe not quite as light on it's feet as a GTI but so much more charismatic. Also doesn't suffer with nannying traction control whenever you try to leave a junction with any kind of vigour. Prices are pretty much on level pegging these days so the only consideration is running costs.

I've driven the car a bit more now and feel in a better place to pass judgement
I wanted DSG as it's my wife's car, used for the daily commute round the M25.
It's a great compromise and good fun but not as involving as a manual. I'd say it suits the car perfectly.
