Want a GTO/3000GT..or get a 03-4 scooby?
Hi guys, just wanted opinions on the Mitsubishi GTO(3000GT). Stats like 0-60 etc, comments on cost of ownership and what the best models are.
I cant get away from the fact I really really really want one, and if I don't get one in the next year or so I never will. If I do get one it would have to be a manual with turbo, and I really like the MR for looks, and the fact its lighter? What's the chances of getting an MR? I know they're rare cars, spoke to an owner about three years back and he was selling his for 10k, man if I had the money.

I have yet to see a single good word written about these.
Supra or 300ZX every time if you want a Jap coupe/sporty thing.
But a Scooby every time over either of the above.

Well I've owned 4 of these in the past and I like them all!! They're good value for money, although they do cost a bit to maintain and if they go wrong its VERY pricey!
If you're seriously looking at one, dont touch the NA's - stick to the Twin Turbo's, and try to steer clear of the mk1's as their gear boxs are made entirely of chocolate, and will break with minimal abuse - I managed to strip a gear completely, and it cost £800 for it to be repaired. The later MK2's have a 6 speed box which is much better. They are pretty tunable, but are VERY heavy, even the MR's!
In all honesty, I'd go with the scooby, but if you absolutely have to own one, then do so, but just be VERY VERY picky before you buy - There are a lot of sheds out there - make sure EVERYTHING electrical works aswell!! All that said - Personally - I think they are a stunning car and would prob own one again!

Thanks for the replys guys.
I have made my mind up.....after going round in circles over and over again, GTO, 300Z, Scooby, just as I did before buying the car I have now, I decided on........
........yep, keeping the Scooby I have . The thing is I'm looking at spending 2k on it as the clutch and gearbox is going, so I thought about getting something else, and love the look of the GTOs. The problem is the scooby is just too good a car, I have nice leather seats, aircon, one sweet sounding car, I car I feel involved in when I drive it, and many other things, everything I want basically.
The only thing I think for me the GTO has over my scoob is the looks. Without spending more money on top I wont have a car that's any quicker, and from what I have read and been told they aren't that involved a drive?. I like the Z but it looks too dated now and its even slower than the GTO.
I think the only car to get me out of my classic is probably another one or a skyline, R35? way out of my price range though.
