Default Service Price Matching

Need a 50k service on my Octavia.

The Indy garage I'd hoped to take it to is £45 more than other garages.
(Main dealers are £100+ more )

Would you bother trying to get them to price match or just take it to a cheaper garage?

My concern is they price match and then find 'something' wrong anyway pushing the price back up.

None of the garages I am looking at has serviced the car, simply going on recommendations.

I have had the main Audi dealer price match each other - so I dont see the problem with a quick phone call and asking them if they will price match.
IS the 50K service a minor or a major (eg oil change type or a more involved eg timing fan change) ?
The independant if it has the proper VAG group tools & diagnostics might be worth paying £45 more - personal recomdations / ones from Octavia / VAG forums are worthwile - more so on ther independants

I'd use the Independent. You will pay more than a 'local' and the Indy stamp will look better in the book than a Joe Blogs garage.

Always ask for any extra work to be agreed in advance so that if they do find anything, you have a chance to get either a second opinion or a fixed price quote for the work.

All the garages are well respected VAG Indy specialists.

The one I wanted to use was mainly due to timeframe (when they can do the work) and ease of location (close to home).

Definitely mate most of the service centres are desperate for the work, one simple phone call or a polite email could save you £45.00.
I always play the Subaru dealers off against each other it surprising how much you can save
