Default Clio Trophy - buying guide or recommendations ?

Hi all

I am now officially fed up with driving a 1.4 Focus LX. After a Honda Civic VTi-S, 01 WRX, Clio 172 and Leon Cupra R 225, it doesnt really do anything to entice me in, other than being cheap as chips.

I am looking at spending about 6-7k, and have looked at the Integra Type R and Clio Trophy. I know all about the incompetence of Renault dealers, but I think I want to get a Renault as they are so good, and I can get a 05/55 plate car for that money, whereas I am looking at a T/V reg ITR.

So, I have looked on Cliosport.net a bit, and registered on ClioTrophy.co.uk, but does anyone know of any buying guides, and things to look out for ? I am sure there was a guide in Evo recently but i give all my old ones to my Dad and i dont think he keeps them.

Dave

Just sold my 182 mate which is pretty much the same car..

The obvious changes from the 182 are the Sach remote resevoir dampers (worth about £2500)....Alloys and Awesome Recaro seats.

Things that spring to mind are the rear shocks on the 182 but this isn't a problem that affects the 182.Usual issues involving gearbox weakness and exhausts falling off! TBH with a Clio you can FEEL if the car is in a bad state because it's french.

Cambelt change and Aux belt change are £800 from a dealer and need to be done after 5 years or 70K but you can get it done at a specialist such as Birchdown for just £410 inc the VAT.

Tyres 'should' be Michelin Exalto's which i got quoted £570 for 4 from Kwick fit so are NOT cheap.I think they are on the Trophy but not 100% sure.

The steering should be sharp and it should go around corners better than pretty much anything you have ever driven bar a lotus elise and the brakes are nice and strong.

The thing that put me off is the cost of replacing the remote reservoir dampers.
What is their life span?
