Default Bulb Replacement Nightmare - ST170 Focus.

Not so much a nightmare, but still a shocking job considering I was only replacing the four headlight bulbs - must have taken me over an hour, although light in the garage was terrible so that could have contributed.

I've heard people waffling on about difficulty changing bulbs in newer cars, but I honestly thought they were muppets.

Also, had to take the battery, and the bit it sits in out to get the protective cover back on the passenger side: there's no mention of this in the manual(just says you may have to take the top cover off the battery), although there should be since it's physically impossible without doing so.

Now I realise why they offer a bulb fitting service in Halfords!

Just a general rant...

But was the the post 02 facelift model with 3 bulbs in it or the pre facelift with only 1? If it's the former you must have hands the size of my 4 year old.

Quickest/easiest way to do it is remove the headlight, especially on the battery side. 2 bolts on top and one from underneath IIRC. 10 mins job that way.

Lol, definetly not a quick job on my car, and I have quite small hands anyway.

Good idea Playsatan: I'd thought about that, but just didn't want to mess up the alignment etc when I was only changing a few bulbs.

The alignment will still be that same as long and you don't move the adjusters. It'll bolt back in the same way as it came out.
