Buying a leggy RS4

Buying a leggy RS4
Not looking to change the scoob yet, but im pretty sure my next car is going to be an RS4. Unfortunatly though it will be an early one as this is all my budget will stretch to - a nice X, Y or 51 plate can be had ranging from 15-20k
I know running cost will be on par, if not more than the scoob, its major work i'd be worrying about. Is there any horror stories about engines/gearboxes/turbos etc on 60,000+ miles.
Would i be better getting a newer less mileage S4 with the V8 lump for the same price? or forget a car like this if id be constantly worried about a big repair bill

I've also been down this road (currently got an S4).
TBH, I don't think the running costs are on a par with the Scoob. They're much more. Aside from fuel, insurance & tax, the parts are more, and much more specialist (brakes etc)
For more detailed info, pop over to either rs246.com or audisrs.
The v8 S4 isn't that popular with the "modders" - it's a ready-to-run car, that is heavy!!
Even mine which is a B5 S4, the main issues were oil lines. Mostly, they're bomb proof (watch out now I've said that!!LOL!) However, if the turbos go (and this applies to the RS4), bear in mind it's TWO turbos to replace. BIG bills.
Whatever you go for, get yourself to MRC for a health check (the car, not you!) They are the BOYS when it comes to Audis.
Personally, I'm sticking with my S4 for the time being, as I've yet to find anything that is justifiably better at the task for the amount of money to spend.
FWIW, might be worth looking at an RS6...... aside from the dodgy suspension (get it replaced for aftermarket stuff), a MUCH more potent car!! Almost the same money. At present, you can't give em away (well, almost!)
Jeff will be along (hopefully) - IIRC, he's got a 4, so would be good to chat to. There's a couple of others too, but I think they've got newer RS4s.....
