Default 02 plate Corsa: dash thermometer fault?

One of my female friends has a fault with the thermometer read-out on her dash, so I'd like to get that sorted as soon as possible for maximum brownie points.

The read-out for outside temperature on the centre of the dash hovers around -30. Does anyone know a particular reason why this could be happening? Common fault with them?

Thanks to anyone who can help
Alan

Assuming there the same as the older ones its probably either the sensor broken/missing or a failure in the wiring to it. In the older cars they were behind the bumper grill and with the sensor disconnected would display between -30 and -40....

Hope this helps some rather then hinders !

Yes, helps a lot thanks. I'll have a look for that when I next see her.

Cheers

My combo van displays about +36 to +38, it has done for the last couple of years. I've unplugged the sensor a few times hoping that would cure it.
I've often wondered if it would be a cheap fix.

Yes, Eddie 1980 is right, they are around the front bumper out of the way from the air flow. look for two wires going towards the centre, £15 approx
