I know a lad with an M6, same thing really, 10 mpg on his commute, dont know whether there was a hint of exaggeration but I wouldnt have thought so, can do 20 if driven like a saint.

BMW M5 (2004-) | Car Review | Road Test | 4car | Channel 4

lol at 19.1mpg, like above post 15mpg is more like. Although article does say pressing on drops it to single figures which is just eye watering for on the road driving

Not really surprising for a 10 cylinder 500hp engine ! You would have to be a bit of a tard to expect otherwise...

Lol... but with 500bhp you don't need that much of a gap!

I've had mine for a year or so. Average I get is 12mpg. On a motorway cruise I can get 20mpg, but I hardly use motorways

yeah mines be treaked, it does a average of 30 to 35 mpg with all sorts of mixture of roads, the new engine with 286 bhp, is better mpg again and has lower co2 output

book figs for 272 mpg = 35mpg combined, and the new 286 is 42 mpg combined, so looks good!

I spoke to the lad with the M6 again, he said 15 is more typical, he started going on about it shutting down cylinders dependant on demand ?
