Audi S5.....any experts
I have a chance of a S5 at a cut down price.
I already have a Q7 and a F355 so I don't really need it, but find it hard to turn down a bargain
Are they any good? I like the looks and can assume that with the Audi 'S' badge that it will perform.
Anyone have one?
I could garage the Ferrari for the winter and use the S5 as my daily runabout, then sell it in the new year for a possible profit.
Thing is the seller is a friend and I don't want to engage him at all if this is just a crappy Audi that looks good. If it is a proper car then I may take a closer look.

I like the A5 shape. Seen a couple S5's around my way. They do look nice in either Black or White.
Audi's 4.2 litre V8 does like to drink oil, so you need to keep an eye on the levels. Quite thirsty on Petrol too.
I doubt in the real world it's that much faster than the 3.0 TDI though.
If fuel bills are nothing to you then get the S5. However I'd have thought the S5 will take a hit on depreciation more than the 3.0 TDI.
If it were my money, I'd go for the TDI.
The RS5 isn't too far away either.

It's from a mate who is desperate to sell. It's Blue and loaded (don't know exactly what) and I know the best offer he has had so far is 26k from a dealer.

That IS cheap
It's not the most favoured of the "5" range (the Tdi 3.0 is IIRC) and the handling is a bit of a let-down.
By all accounts, Audi seemed to have screwed this one up The RS5 may be a different beast (if it ever gets made), but the TDi is the doozy
However, at that sort of money....hmmmm

Was getting onto £37k+ for the TDI and £40k+ for the S5.
At £26k, I'd be tempetd to buy it off him myself.
Why is he desperate to get rid? Is it costing him way more than he thought it would?

what would you like to know mate.
is it an all round good car = yes is amasing, it sounds great, looks great and feels great, its not meant for the back roads its a cruiser, its audis take on the muscle car. the s5 is faster than the 3.0tdi.
the rs5 is a hoax car, no body knows where they come from i'm more than happy to take deposits on them ,but realisticly its years off.
26 is super cheap for the s5. there around 45 new with a bit of spec, leather is standard, along with a whole host of specs on the a5. drive one then make the decision mate, auto car reviews and opinions are strange.

He has 26k offered from the dealer, best offer so far. He wants 37k but is dreaming, I was thinking of offering 1k more than his best dealer offer. So 27k at the moment. But like anything, if he knows I am interested then a miraculous dealer offer of 34kish will appear no doubt.
If you are serious, then let me know and I will be happy to put you in touch.

Remember when my old man was selling his RS4. £52k new. 2 years old, the best the Audi dealer would give him was £37.5k. This was on an £85k R8 too.
Dealer had older RS4's with more mileage on his forecourt for £45-47k
TBH he couldn't give the car away. Tried selling it privately with no luck. Last few days he offered it for the same money the dealer was going to give him, yet still no one wanted it. Immaculate too it was. Only 7000 miles on it.

problem with cars like the s5, and rs4 etc is that if you have the money to buy one, then your gona want a new one. hense why dealers will offer low trade in prices, simply because they know they cant shift them.

If I hadn't just bought a Golf a couple months ago I would have.
