That would be great wouldn't it, a 7.5 ltr V12 merlin engine in a Rolls Royce Phantom.I thought of it like this Rolls isn't making piston powered aero engines anymore, so might as well put some good old fashioned British engineering into new Rollers and cut out BMW.What do you think.

differing capacities beteen types of Merlin.
RR never put the Merlin engine in a production car. it is to tall for a start although a couple of nutters have done so
Most evocative sound mind, sounds best in a spit or hurri

Yeah that is 27 litres, but why don't Rolls Royce make a new smaller block Merlin V12 or V16 to compete with the Bugatti Veyron etc. Also would be great to have more class in the Rollers and Bentleys.I am not just talking about the interiors, i am talking about the shape of them.

That is the style and class, the Rolls Royces and Bentleys should portray.

It was built by a different Rolls Royce. Built by the real Rolls Royce, I believe. IIRC the car makers have to obtain/maintain the approval of the aero engine company still. At least thatll prevent them from actually up-rooting to Germany, when they dont get their way, as has been threatened already.....

I was just reading about this Roller, and the bodyshell was replaced a few times to become what it is now.The name of the designer and coachbuilder of this RR Phantom is Jonckheere.

Ok so not an engine named after them aero engines.I know Rolls Royce can build their own engines and racing engines too (Rolls Royce R conceived from Buzzard), i just wish they would go to Crewe and start building car engines again. Also would be great to see Rolls Royce make a supercar that would trounce the Bugatti Veyron and others like it.
