Default Audi S5

Saw my first one of these on the road this morning. He booted it from the lights and it went like stink!

Lovely looking and sounding motor!

Haven't driven one yet, but by all accounts, it's still a bit vague in the steering

The general concensus is that the TDi is better

Yes, bro-in-law drove the V8 S5 petrol and the A5 diesel and went for the TDi.

He said on most roads, in most conditions, the TDi was more fun to drive .... it also has as much torque as the V8 AND delivers it from 1500rpm

V8, looks, four wheel drive - tick
No turbos, vague steering - X

I hope they bring out an RS5. Anything with >3 litres, turbo or super, quattro, DSG, no DRC to break would be awesome.

TDi has way more than the S5... S5 has 324lb/ft and 3.0TDi has 368lb/ft. Remap it and a TDi would give an S5 a run for its money.

Bloke at work has a new V8 one, and took us for a spin, that thing does push you back in the seat. Only problem is that he has had his back in the garage 3 times now because of a clutch issue which Audi haven't fixed yet.

The only problem with Audi V8's is there taste for Oil.

My old man was filling his RS4 up every few thousand miles. His R8 hasn't been topped up yet, but only has about a 1000 miles on it.

I think this is one reson Audi are going back to twin Turbo'd V6's for future S & RS cars.

Don't know if they'll have the same issues with the V10 engines. Guess we'll have to wait to see.

If it was my money, I'd be tempted to got for the A5 3.0TDI & get it chipped.

The 3.0 TDi does seriously fly - 0-60 in 5.7 which probably doesn't feel a whole lot slower to the S5's 4.9 to 60 with all that torque!

Very classy looking cars as well! No doubt an RS5 will be coming sooner or later!

No: 0-100KPH is 5.9. 0-60MPH is 5.7. ( I am considering one and have the brochure.) I would have previously gone for an S5, but other than the V8 soundtrack, the 3.0TDI seems the way to go.

I considered getting a 3.0 TDI last month. My local Audi garage even offered to chip it for £300 putting the performance just shy of an S5!

And keep the warranty?

Who were they going to use? QST?

I know all MTM products are warranty fine back in the father land, but I asked about MTM'ing an S3 a couple years ago, and got told warranty would not be honered in the event of an Engine issue.

TBH I didn't pay much attention as it was all sales talk but I would suspect it would invalidate the warranty. However the sales guy said it can't be detected. I don't know of MTM products, the sales guy said it was some software they get from Germany. I'm not sure if that is MTM or not.
