Chrysler Grand Voyager

Dont, as has already been said, appalling in a crash, none are economical, the 2.0 petrol auto we had on rental was painfully slow, the diesel is better but nowheher near as good as the Galaxy/Sharan/Alhambra 115/130, the 3.3 is teens mpg. Ok its big but I couldnt live with the safety rating if taking kids in it, the Galaxy (old shape) is 3 stars, the other alternative is a Grand Espace which is pretty much as big but reliability is an issue, our old Sharan wasnt that well built but nothing major went wrong, just trim, drop links and the air con, not great but compared to our friends Espace a model of reliability, gearbox, engine management, suspension etc etc
For 5k, I would go for something Japanese, Previa is pretty big but doesnt have 7 full seats (bench in the back) or Sharalaxy if big enough.

We now have the new Galaxy which is about the best full size MPV you can get, trouble is they are still expensive.

We've had a couple of them- the first was the V6 petrol, and we have a 2.8 D Grand Voyager Limited at the mo.
Tbh I hate driving it, but there's little else in its class with quite so much space. Its not bad on fuel on a run either, but its crap around town. Never had any problems with either.
I echo whats been said about accidents- I'm fortunate enough to have not had a head on in either of ours, as apparently the steering column has a nasty habit of going straight through the drivers head....

As it happens, no.... the problem has come from the conversion to right hand drive; when left hand drive the steering column comes through a universal joint so collapses in the case of collission- whereas in the rhd version its more like a jousting pole type thing and doesn't collapse- merely spears the occupant!

Thanks for your feedback guys, I always recommended the Previa to him but I think he Liked the luxury packs that come with the Voyager, but this ought to make him think twice.

Dont, bought one for the wife last year 03 plate. ABSOLOUTLEY SHOCKING. £400 for a pulley for the aircon and nearly a £1000 for a clutch, plus dodgy electrics and just awful layout inside. Buy European, the yanks cant land there laser guided bombs in the right place so how the hell can they be trusted to build a familly car that works
