Scoobynet wisdom needed!
I'm toying with changing my 3.0i Z4 for something a bit cheaper and fun.
Getting a bit fed up with the rock hard suspension (sport model on 18's) and the tramlining, but I like the kit levels.
Drove my fiancees Leon Cupra (180bhp MK1) across Exmoor at the weekend and it was brilliant fun and no way I could have done it in the Z4 with as much pace or fun due to the aforementioned issues.
I'm not fussed about body style (something more practical than the Z4 though), but was thinking along the lines of a Cupra R or ST220 etc.
Would really like to still have heated seats, nice would be electric seats, sat nav built in and bluetooth etc.
Looking at a budget of around 8k max and after something max 5 years old and under 60k miles....... something a bit sporty too - want to be able to overtake stuff without worry!
Anything out there I should consider - my minds a blank!

Nearly at rx8 money, Civic type r, lotus elise again not far off a S1, none off these though will have taht spec your after regarding seats and satnav.
Seeing it is a subaru forum a wrx as already mentioned would be easily affordable for 8k decent kit but again struggling with heated, electric seats and sat nav. Im sure you will only find that kit on dearer high end cars audi tt boxsters that sort of thing and executive cars. You would get a 180 audi tt coupe for 8k but wouldnt be in your criteria again beeing about 8 years old and probably more miles.
Well im running out of ideas if i think of any more i will let you know

Lovin my S4 not heated seats though.
Probably not a "cheaper" alternative though. They cost to run, and if they go wrong (turbos etc), expect BIG bills.

Don't really mind the cheaper to run part - as long as its not worse than the Z4 (which would be difficult lol! )
No probs running it, just want to release some cash and have a bit more practical comfort!

I've just treated myself and bought an Alpina B10 mate: a mint 40k miler one owner beastie. It's a hell of a lot of car, and fits within your budget. I'm loving it.
I had my heart set on an E46 M3, or an E39 M5, but with a bit of research settled on a B10 and around £10k change. Delighted with my decision: M3's are as common as muck in my area, and an Alpina just feels that little bit more special and more exclusive than the M cars I sampled. And with no Vanos or Nikasil issues to worry about, you can sleep easier at night too. It's just big old fashioned cubic capacity and good tuning.
Heated nappa leather is rather nice on the bottie. Oh, and it goes rather well too, although so it should with 350 bhp.
It ain't exactly frugal, but what V8 is? And when you give it a good rev and listen to that handbuilt 4.6, all thoughts of 115p/litre are soon forgotten.

wouldn't touch a cupra with a barge pole.
4 people were killed, well 5 if you include the unborn child, when a yound lag lost it and smashed into a scoob head on, both of the scoob ocupants, although seriously injuried survived with fingers crossed no perminent injuries, the cupra just split in half.
if youw nt some cheap fun, an early wrx is prob best value for money out there
