Anyone an expert on Toyota gearboxes?
A weird question, but there's so many people here I can but ask...
Simply, one of the worst things about my MY03 Rav4 is the motorway cruising. Currently has a 5-speed box, would love a 6-speed. New Rav4s (different engine) have a 6-speed.
Is it physically/theoretically possible to find one from another crashed Toyota (Rav or otherwise) and swap it?
I know nothing about a) casings, b) 4wd, c) ECU and fuelling issues, though a rapid google shows that these might be problems (or not...)
Or even, how easy would it be to put a higher drive in my 5-speed?
No-one seems to have ever asked about this on RAV4World site.
Found this post on mr2 forum:
Some info on Toyota's new 6-speed EA series transmissions - Toyota MR2 Message Board
Thanks
