Best 6 seater?

Nah, the S-Max doesn't have proper seats for grown ups, fine for kids in the back but is meant to be fun to drive.
Previa huge but has rear bench with lap belts (or it did), Voyager is good but a very poor crash rating and no fun to drive.
We are looking for a new Galaxy which seats 7 and is meant to be good to drive, not as fun as the S-Max but passengers dont generally like you having fun.

got an Smax here, as seond car to my STI.
Seats in the back are a little smaller than standard, but can still seat 6 adults fairly comfortably.
Bought it as it was the only 7 seater that drove like a car and not a bus and ticked all the boxes.
Recommended!

I think all those with pop-up back seats won't count as 6 in comfort. So you either look at those with 7 full-time seats like Voyager, Espace, Galaxy etc, or the others are the 3+3s like Honda FR-V and the Fiat Multipla. Haven't a clue how much fun they are. Merc R-class perhaps a bit overkill?
J4cko makes a very good point - passengers generally don't like you having fun

Anyway, we rarely stop but it was used as an occasional treat and motivational tool for them to behave, I didnt realise how much he had eated as we heard his familiar little cry that denoted his lunch was on its way back and we had 2.0 milliseconds to react, i.e. not long enough and he filled his car seat, allons of milkshake with chips and bits of burger, plus a Happy Meal Lilo and Stich character (that was already there, dont think he had eaten it)
It had long enough to get partially digested so smelt which set the other two chugging, all windows open.
So, fun isnt an option with passengers.
Have just put a deposit on another Galaxy, after the other turned up minus the ESP, its a Tango Orange 2.0 TDci Ghia with the DVD screens and all sorts of other crap like voice command, not seen it yet, will be another 2 weeks.

Sorry I meant 5 in comfort. That will be 3 adults and two child seats. This won't work in my 5 series as can only really sit 2 at the back (adults or child seats) asthe middle space is useless due to the transmission tunnel.
Thanks

Yes, painful experience, I either get moaned at or certainly when the lads were younger little un would bring up his lunch, I remember having fun in our T5 (7 seat est), I was pressing on and the missus warned me but I wanted to get to Anglessy in time to get in front of the telly with a beer, but no little fella decides he had held on to his Maccy D's long enough.

Interesting idea from a friend. 50% of the time I'll be on my own, another 40% of the time it'll be 4 of us (which is no problem) less than 10% of the time it'll be 5 of us. So rather than go to all the expense of changing cars or running two cars (and also allowing me to keep my beloved M5!) why not just hire a people carrier the few times in the year I'll need it!

Quick check shows Kia Sedona 7 seater: £600 for 8 days, base price, from Europcar, apparently. Hertz won't quote online for a Galaxy.
Watch for loading for things like additional drivers, insurance for going abroad, etc. Might be up to £2k per year depending on how much you need it.

I know it's not a fire breathing dragon, but what about a Honda FR-V?
It comes with the excellent 2.2i cdti engine. 0-60 sub 10 secs. 340nm at 2000rpm. I'm sure you could remap it to give it more oomph. Looks nice and compact too.

My wife's Grand Scenic DCi is fun to drive and has some nice touches. Quality has improved but reliability not 100%, nothing serious, warning light after jet washing it and the heater has stopped working on level 2
Overall I'd lease another for £200 ex vat I pay for it, but will most likely try something different maybe a citroen 7 seater.
