From what i have heard from owners is that you will have to be prepared to fix alot of things. The weakest link is the tranny. As far as full cost and insurance I don't know.

i used to own one and i can say it was an excellent car never had any problems while i owned it as long as you can find a good example and not been ragged about with loads of silly mods then it should be ok .
as for running costs no different to a scoob really ,they like fuel but what car doesnt these days with the price of petrol
gearboxes and clutches can be a worry but only if they running standard gear on highly modified cars
id buy another for a weekend toy

fuel economy if driven hard can be worse than the scoob :eek1:
When I had mine, I did a full tank of fuel in 96 miles!!!
Cracking strong engine that likes to be revved. I had to get a replacement box for mine (mine was a uk model in red, think there was only 50) but other than that nothing needed other than service items good car

I was going to get one before I got the WRX, I think they're great. A friend of mine has a uk car in Red.
Id love a black one with black wheels....how mean would that look
Only prob is the other half hates them with a passion but loves the WRX

I traded a 200sx in fot a GTI-R and loved the 3 months of driving it out of the 13 months I owned it.
Awesome cars and very quick. I didnt want to origanlly have the same car as Dad (Sti) so I opted for one of these.
Sadly the Gearbox cant cope. Its a 1.6 box bolted onto a tranny case.
I had three boxes on it, and a friend had two.
I did use mine as an everyday car, and was told that really only to use it just on dry weekends.
Id have one again if I had the money, but would change the box to a quaife or something.
After now owning a wrx, id never stray from Subaru. Go buy a WR1 or something, lol.
