"WALK AWAY"! Erm... ISTR reading about the aftermath of that one. He got very badly burned. He took the race organisers to court and obtained a settlement as the marshalls didn't/couldn't react quickly enough and basically let him burn.

There's before/after piccies of him out on the net somewhere.....

Tetsuya Ota, video often shown as an example of how not to do it. Crash was only back in 98, race should not have started.
He got 800k payout.

Theres another vid of them pulling him out. He stumbles about and is treated like walking wounded. Its even more harrowing than the vid above.

As Billythekid says he was paid out by the track for negligence or similar prosecution. He looks rather "patch-worked" now.

Yea the aftermath vid is really bad. You can see his face literally smoking through his visor.

I am trying to find the before and after photos on the net, if anyone can find them please post also the full crash video.

PS. I am looking for his book called CRASH but cant find it.....

The bit of the video I am interested in is missing, I recall seeing the driver out of the car, helmet smoking, and being bundled into what looked like a bread van....

Thats part 2 of the video - guy gets out the Ferrari amazingly alive, and hardly gets any help??? No ambulance waiting there, and the mashalls pretty much leave him there?

It's indeed an old video, but it still shocks me at how disorganised an "organised" event can be, even though it should never have started in teh first place.

Help for the drivers should have taken mere seconds, not left rolling in agony - still being burnt by melted clothing.
