a treat for 205 gti 8v fans...
Here are the first videos of my track-car since the car has been back from des-developments and the new milder cam. Boy does it shift, the mid range is awesome, the power band being very wide indeed. It's going on the rollers next friday for final mapping and power run..

lovely noise from the 205 mate
sounds like you will enjoy your trackdays, and looks pretty quick too, picks those revs up really well
What about airflow - although Longmans and Pug Performance seem to think that TBs prefer "finding" their own air, rather than being rammed...? I've got a heat shield underneath mine, that the trumpets and air filters sit on, so once it's moving I don't think there's too much heat soak from the rad.
Have been in two very quick 205s - both were totally stripped out - one had a Longmans built 106 gti turbo engine in it - felt like a 300bhp scoob, and the other had a GTI6 engine with cams in it - circa 180 bhp (optamistically...). So light, they really fly!

From all the research I've done since being an owner myself, its my (propably wrong) understanding the 16v engines were only in the 405 MI16 1.9 and 2.0 blocks. Or in the 2.0 turbo blocks used for the 205 T16 road going rally car used for homologation reasons. I never knew of a 1.9 16v block for the 205GTi anywho.
Could ask on the 205 GTi drivers forum. Less know it alls on there

There was a French-market only homologation model (309), with the magnesium topped 16v 1900cc engine in it. I think that Ive seen a grand total of two of them. I was interested in one once, as it was a good lighter than my BX16v (which was essentially a better handling Mi16).

Cheers, gives me something to do apart from watch Jeremy Kyle
here's a graph with and without airbox fitted.
Chocolate O B - Collin at Pug Performance has just put a 405 turbo lump into his stripped-out 205... It's supposed to be pretty quick as a standard engine.... and cost him peanuts...

The 205 T16 actualy used a 1.8 engine IIRC, and was a different design to any of the Mi stuff.
As GC8 says, French had the 309 GTI-16, and you can still buy the rear badge from Pug for about £8, same as the GTI badge from the 205, but with -16 on the end - many Mi owners do this.

Gutmann also did an unofficial Gutman 16 conversion as well IIRC.
I loved my 205, but I have to say I don't miss the ***** out revs of the Mi16 engine, and the constant under bonnet fiddling now it's been replaced with the ST.
The Mi16 engine was in the Citroen's of the time, BX 16V, and the GTI-6 engine as well in the Xsara VTS things.

Ignition issue - yey!
