Default E60 530d...FULL M5 conversion..whats it worth?

I have been offered the following car for sale:

53reg
Base car is 530d SE with leather and satnav
Automatic

Externally, the car has been treated to a full M5 conversion....M5 wings, bumpers, sideskirts, quad exhaust, 20" M5 style staggered alloys, lowered suspension, light privacy glass etc, it really does look superb, not the usual cheapo looking conversion.....aside from the brake discs, the car looks 100% M5

Of course the interior is standard SE spec, but it has the leather, chrome trim, satnav and therfore is a pretty nice place to be...

Car has approx 60k miles..FBMSH etc, HPI clear

So, whats it worth......?

Ive offered him £18k which I think is a fair price, but he is wanting 20k........I may move to £19k, but I thought id get another few opinions before talking any further/.....

So your thoughts please....

(ps:I'm not interested in turning this into 'why do you want a replica for' thread....Im in the market for a 530d, and was going to settle for a standard sport version, but this one is gorgeous looking, and therfore I am considering it...btw its silver)

No mate, but it is similar (but better) than the ones being sold on ebay - this one has 20" staggered alloys, slightly lowered so it sits perfectly, unlike the ebay ones which have standard ride, and not very nice replica wheels.

The base car would normally be worth around £16500, so is it worth £2500 extra that you probably wont get back when you come to sell?? Chuck up a couple of pics to show us the car.. but I probably wouldnt go over £18k for it personally.

Cheers,

If it was based on 530i petrol then maybe, but whats the point having one based on the diesel? It's going to be pretty obvious to anyone who hears it that its not an M5!

Having recently been looking for an E60 5series I have been surprised at how many M5 replica's there are knocking about - I think firms are doing 'professional' conversions - most had proper M5 front wings etc too, with the slats.

IMO go for a 530d m-sport instead. The sports look a lot nicer than the slightly weird looking standard 5-series, and 20k would get you one.

The car has a proper quad exhaust conversion, making the car sound very deep and non-diesel like.....it certainly sounds the part, maybe not like a genuine m5, but sounds very meaty nonetheless....so not obvious at all that its a diesel!

To most people it's worth no more than the standard car, if not a bit less. Unless you actually want a diesel M5 Replica (!) I'd strongly recommend going for a standard car - 530D M-sport or whatever they're called.

You might not be bothered, but I'd expect it'd be harder to sell in the long run aswell.. not to mention messing about with insurance etc.

Personal taste of course but I'd stay clear of the M5 replica look - I think it would be tough to sell on later as well.

I would have to agree. Most of the times when I see a M-sport kitted 5 series I think its a M5 anyway. I just cant really tell the difference between the two unless I look for the side slights and the exhausts/badging.

I would say this car is worth no more than any other 530D in similiar condition.

Get a good spec standard car, otherwise you stand to lose a lot of money on that car. I have been there and done it, spent a lot of money on creating a replica car many moons ago - then in the end got sick of not having the power and people pointing out it was a rep and just went and bought the real thing. In the end after the second purchase of the real thing and all the mods to the first one I lost about 5 grand. Which was a lot of money at the time!
