They look good imo - but wouldn't touch an RA in the real world

they are fantastic cars, bullet proof engines and SOOOOO easy to extract power out of. My mate just sold his a couple of weeks ago, it was the WRC version, so 255bhp standard... he put a panel filter, exhaust and boost controller on it (they over fuel as stock and run silly rich) and it made 338bhp and 330lbs/ft on Pro Sport's RR. With a decat and proper remap they are good for 400bhp, only thing is finding a specialist that can eliminate any boost creep which they are prone to. If you are getting one make sure the figure 8's have been done though, its the only real common fault

yeah it's part of the suspension and usually needs replacing every 60k or so. Common fault but nothing major.

These really are great cars, get the JDM WRC if you can as they have a better spec as standard and have anti-lag and water injection as standard. Although the anti lag is not hooked up it can be (not that I would lol).

I had a friend who owned one and said that the handling on the car was fantastic, but could do with a little boost in speed. His car was standard.

As standard they aren't the quickest, but with JUST an Electronic Boost Controller then they are totally transformed.. mainly due to the 1st gear boost limit being removed to fit the EBC. A friend regularly got 1.6 60ft times in his ST205 running just an EBC on the 1/4 mile.... was a brilliant and very reliable car.

If you buy a good one then it'll serve you well, if you buy a dog for peanuts then it'll probably give you a few problems.. much like any older performance car really.

I think the report in EVO magazine's table at the back sums it up perfectly, it says something like:

Plus: A refined WRC car for the road...
Negative: WRC cars arent meant to be refined.

Grant

You get your butler to ask your full time on-call mechanic to do it in your heated garage underneath your ten bedroom mansion... because the anti-lag is so damn harsh, only someone that has all those things could afford to replace the turbos as they give up after a few hundred miles with the anti-lag activated.

ive been on track with a gt4 ,the big shape one dunno what year .
It handled like a flippin jelly ,it really was cr4p ,it was pushing over 300 bhp and it just couldnt cope ,absolutey horrendous understeer and as i say it was way way too softly sprung for track, just judging on what it looked like i would say they are a very heavy car...he cut me up driving like an idiot on the first session while i was still learning the lines and he got black flagged ,session or 2 later i found myself behind him ,i caught up and overtook him and pulled away ,so just to rub it in i slowed down and let him past then proceeded to take him apart again.

sod me just looked up weight and they are 1500 kilos ,no wonder i scalped him with my kerb weight of 1015 kilos !!.

All ST205's are 240bhp as standard ...& that includes the WRC

All ST205's weight the same (depending on options) ... 1380 kg 'dry'

The Anti-lag & Intercooler spray are virtually useless on the WRC

& I've owned both

...& i prefer my 555

UK ST205's are quoted at 240bhp... JDM cars are quoted at 255bhp... However, a healthy standard cars have been known to spool 270bhp on various rollers throughout the UK.

Hi Grant,

The UK spec & info is based on '95 Ron tho' iirc ...pretty sure the JDM is 97/98

I ran both mine (had them both at the same time for a short while) & ran both on the rollers ...both were completely standard & ran 1-2 bhp difference, also weighed them at the same time to dispel the 'WRC's' are lighter myth.

& are you still able to get on GT4OC? ...I cant view any topics?

What's the fuel economy like in comparison to a scoob. When I first bought a scoob I thought the fuel tank was leaking

The Celica is very rare though. I've not seen that many about for a long time. I like rarity factor.
