The time has come for my trusty A4 to get traded-in and I'm tempted with a 530d - 215bhp and 41mpg sounds like a good combo!

Anyone got a driven the e60 530d? Or the 525d for that matter - is that much slower behind the wheel?

Have you tried the Mercedes E Class, my g/f uses my old E320 (its 18 month old now) & compared to the 535d i had she prefers its, she reckons its smoother than the 5 Series & the interior is better finished.

 

A mate of mine has the 525d and its a brilliant car!!

I thought it was pretty quick until we went in his mates 530d which was just unbelievable.

If I had the money to have even an E39 as my daily driver I would go for a 525d right away.

 

I too will be trading in my Audi A4 1.9TDI Avant Sport for a 2006 BMW 530d MSport later in the year. Having looked at all sports diesel options, the 530d stands head and shoulders above the rest.

Has anyone tried one with both the 18" & 19" wheel? How does ride, handling and road noise compare? Also, what's the general opinion on the run flats & i-drive? Are they both really THAT bad?

My Audi has been chipped to approx. 180bhp and 260lb/ft which made a huge difference to the car. It has performed faultlessly over 25k miles in the 2 years i've owned it and still returns a 45mpg average. I wonder how the BMW will fare in the MPG & Performance stakes?
