Default Nissan Micra 160SR

Hello

Has anybody got/had a Nissan Micra 160SR? I'm thinking of getting one for the wife for her 80 mile per day commute They seems to be cheap second hand (£6k), have 100bhp, 0-60 in 9.5 and 42mpg.

Are they any good?

Thanks

mark

For 80 miles a day, I'd look at a turbo-diesel. My friends have just bought a Fiesta Zetec-S TDCI. It drives brilliantly and averages over 50mpg. You'll only have to go to the petrol station once a week at that average.

If you want a bit more pep, look for a Skoda Fabia vRS, but for £6k they'll have some miles on.

The thing is she wants something cute, no Fords, no Vauxhalls and nothing French. She is not making it easy.

That Panda 100HP has had some rave reviews, comes pretty loaded too.

Don't know if they are down to £6k yet though

That's that thing I wouldn't mind the Panda or the vRS but thet are still out of scope.
We drove the 1.3 Swift and it was totally gutless the 1.5 is better but the MPG is nowhere near 40mpg. I know the car at EVO only gets about 29mpg!!

How about a Mitsubishi Colt or Smart ForFour. 1.5 Diesel, 95hp.

She said the Colt made her feel ill but I'll suggest the ForFour.
Thanks

Haven't driven the 160 version, but our 1.2s is a cracking car. We bought it to offset the cost of running a 350Z, and it's done a very good job indeed.

At the end of the day it's still a Japanese car, and we've had Zero problems in over 3 years, it's rock solid. (and a good drive too - although don't tell her I said that!)

vRS's start @ around 6k but as already mentioned will probably
have slightly high mileage. Dont think reliability will be a problem tho.

Mark - at 80 miles a day, I'd have safety as my priority.

Good point

That means nothing Italian then?

I still stick with the Nissan, with the Fabia in a strong second place...

I was suprised at how well the newer shape Micra drives after being given one as a courtesy car for a bit. Actually found it really good fun on backroads.

Not sure about the sportier one (not driven one) but I like Micras. The old ones were the Devils work though.

My money would be on the Yaris T-Sport. Cracking little motors.
