My Integra DC5 does the Nurburgring...
Posted elsewhere but I know many like the DC5 on here...
What a weekend, what a car! It was my first time so I wasnt familiar with the track at all. The video below was my 10th lap and had great fun following an S2000. Prob could have got past a couple of times but he knew the track and I would have got in his way if I dipped past.
Kept well within my limits to preserve myself and the car.
This lap was 9 min 20 secs and without spriting through the start / finish *didnt know exactly that it was gantry to bridge!* plus wanst going flat out on the straights as I didnt know where to push on at that stage.
Think I managed nearer to 9 by the end of my visit!
Mate got around 8:30 in the S2000
The car performed so well, and really surprised a lot of the RWD guys at how good it handles. I did notice that the S2000 can carry a fair bit better corner speed, and feels a bit more stable, but the enigne in this car is much better than the F20C in the S2000.
It has a LOT of pull, even at 3000 revs it doesnt grumble... not that you are at 3000 on track though!
(Click the arrow at the bottom right and choose "smooth play" and "original size")
My DC5 Integra Type R on the Nurburgring - turn the volume up!

Well it depends what you are after but they start at 10k and onwards.
Total bargain for what they do. Mine is near standard and you can just stick it on track!
Lightweight, front LSD, Brembo's etc etc.
Mine is up for grabs as I am after a change

I'm thinking of buying one of these and selling the 205.
What are they like to drive Mark, say om a long run when you can't be arsed driving at 100%, motorway etc?
I fancy something that is as quick and handles as well as my 200 brake 205, but is more comfy to live with on a weekend.

DW - one thing really struck me while at the ring... If you watch my vid - ok its not monster quick (I did go quicker) but then watch the vid of the Spec C going round there (its in Ceneral somewhere) and look at the difference.
My point is that the Honda's are vastly more exciting to drive, so involving as you are always revving, changing gear, heel toeing, the noise is great etc.
The torque it has is also incredible, its a lot better than the S2000 in that respect. Great on the motorway too. VTEC in 6th is about 130 mph so unlike the DC2 you are way off fuel guzzling point.
I got 400 miles from a £45 fill up on it too, on the motorway.
I suspect they are the best FWD car built for corning ability, and Brembo brakes as standard are excellent.
Like I said, I really cant fault it but I want to get something RWD again.

Funnily enough, no!
For one I cant afford it but another thing the Ring made me realise is that there really is far more pace to be gained from handling bits. Quite taken by the track day bug
As you pointed out, I think there are going to be a few broken ones before long... I think some of them hav gone a bit far. The stock Comptech with 320 ish bhp is plenty!

Would love one of these, i would imagine they are a bit sharper than a Scoob around the bends and certainly better brakes than a Classic.
How do these perform against say a new age STi?????
400 miles - you've almost sold me

In the dry it would eb neck and neck with a UK PPP STi. The wheels light up in gear in the wet so that's where it would struggle.
I have driven a JDM STi and I think it would just have the edge over the DC5, but on good qaulity road / track it would be very close.
You can get a feel for how good it is on the vid.
Spec C would be game over, given they were designed for the Ring!
Certainly its agility and brakes are a massive strong point...

Had my DC5 for 1.5 years as now..still loving it. Agree with DBM, its a very involving car, has all the key features as with the DC2, stiffened/lightened bodyshell, LSD, Brembo's, great recaros, slick 6 speed box, the hydraulic steering is excellent..quite weighty but gives excellent feel and so much better than a CTR's electric version, the engine is great if your into high revving fun, likes to be worked in spirited driving but has plenty torque for everyday use, and a handy 20hp more than the CTR, also relatively easy but not exactly cheap to get an extra 25-30hp out of. As for std performance i would say whilst ultimately not quite as quick on the straights, it would give say a std FQ300 a good run for its money in the dry. Would recommend one.

Selling so soon, you don't keep your cars for 5 minute's Mark, lol.
I love the shape of the DC5, a lot nicer than the DC2. Glad you had a good time at the ring, will try to head over there next year if I get the chance.

I currently have a Civic Type R, had it for just over three years but now fancy a change.
I have been thinking of getting another JDM Scoob (had a STI Type R before the Honda) but wouldn't mind something a little different so now starting to look at the DC5's too.
How do these compare to the Civic Type R's in the way of say - Road Noise (on the motorway), Fuel Consumption, and Servicing (will honda dealers service them & how hard is it to get parts?).
Thanks

Hi Davey
TC - call it an affliction I just like trying different things.
STi - different ball game to a Civic. The extra equipment and loss in weight, plus the extra 20 bhp make a big difference. I find it fine on the motorway, and more comfy than the S2000 probably. Most of the parts are the same as the CTR though, and Honda will supply and service them. There are a couple of good Honda dealers who will supply DC5 specific parts, such as windscreens etc.
