Runabout dilemma?
Appologies to all who have answered previous posts by me with regards to runabouts, i'm just so indecisive its untrue but after around 3 months of trying to sell my Subaru it finally looks like its going - so i need a runabout.
I need a car thats fairly economical, dirt cheap parts, does not have to be super fast but needs to maintain a good motorway speed and must handle OK - so no i wont be getting the old Cavalier back on the road.
ok here is my dilemma, people have told me to get a Diesel - which i can understand, but a decent one say and Astra 1.7DTI with over 100k is around 1600 quid at least which will be my approx budget.
Now these are not fast at all but can run up and down the motorway all day long (i'll be doing 12k a year btw) handle ok and will be cheap to run.
The downside is the mileage and the servicing because its a diesel plus the initial outlay.
Ok car 2 would be a Mundano 2.0 Zetec petrol, Loads of these kicking about so more choice of getting a good 'un a fair bit quicker, handle ok, not as economical but these can be picked up for less than a grand and the 600 quid saved is a fair bit of juice.
TBH i wont keep either car fdor more than 2-3 years.
Advice greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance chaps
