Default Pug 205 Owners

Having traded in our old 2002 WRX for a brand new Impreza WRX STi Spec-D, my and my dads plans to go hillclimbing were put on hold as my mum said 'you aren't taking MY brand new Subaru racing' (she's taken quite a liking to it!). So, we started looking for something else!

Those words + eBay = a new addition to the driveway very quickly! We have recently become the latest owners of a Peugeot 205 1.4 Roland Garros, which has been stripped out and fitted with buckets, uprated suspension, 1.9 GTi wheels and Colway Intermediate tyres. We have also ordered a roll cage from Demon Tweeks and we pick the lot up very soon! We'll also have GTi brakes to go on, and a ported and polished head, lumpy cam and bike carbs to go on over time.

Who else on here owns a 205? I've heard there's a few.

This is mine ....

Why bother mucking about with the 1.4 engine, just stick a 1.9 into it and save yourself a lot of hassle.

I have had my track day 205 Mi16 since last October and love it..

Had it at Brands a few weeks ago and was keeping up and going faster than a lot of the more serious machinery (Boxster S, R32, M3 conv, DC2 to name a few).

It is running about 220 (most recent est by Field Motorsport, need to get a proper rr done) although I may be selling in a couple of months as the g/f hates it . No idea what to replace with as will need to spend some serious money to get anything faster.

Hopefully get some pictures posted..

I've got a track 205 Mi16 too. Here's it in action.

Mine...

Standard 1.9 with cold air intake mod

Totally stripped, seat from an old STi.

Cage going in soon, then possibly something along the lines of a 2.0 Zetec and Cossie rear axle. (Just need to stop spending on the Scoob)

Loads of fun, tons of lift-off oversteer, and damned nippy too.

Stands me at just under £400 up to now

Here's mine as it is currently, needs a wash though.

Uprated everything, Mi16 with GSXR bodies running 200bhp. Cost a fair amount to get it to this stage, but only costs £600 a year to run - nice and reliable as well now - just sailed through its MOT without issue.

Default 1.6 at the 'Ring

Me caning my mate's 1.6 GTi in the rain at the 'Ring last weekend. Goes very well although we had a fair bit of mechanical hassle. Nice and controllable in the dry, a little wayward for my liking in the wet, although I've not put in a lot of cockpit time in it tbh.

Everyone raves about 205's but I just found it a little too edgy when close to the limit for my liking. If you gave me a straight choice of having a 205 of my own or a Clio 16v, it would be the Clio every time. Although I am biased, I had one for a long time.

Out at Croft the other weekend, our '88 Pug 205. Out for the first time on Toyo R888's. Very impressed. Normally use Colway F2's which are ahem "pants" in comparision.
Not as powerful as you 16v guys on our 8v's !

Yeah I need to put more driving hours on my logbook. In the dry it's lovely to throw around. Perhaps wet laps of the 'Ring weren't the best place to dabble with lift-off oversteer LOL

The ring is VERY slippery in the wet

I've had 3 over the years.

Before I bought my Impreza I toyed with the idea of buying a TT Sorento Green 205 but it never happened.

If I could find a mint turbo 1.9 I'd seriously consider giving up my Impreza. MI is probably better but always wanted a turbo'd 205.

Had my 205 before my scoob. Only reason I got the scoob is that it was going to cost as much to get the rear bar sorted out (worn bushes) as it was to by the scoob.

Yes it was a hoot in the dry, but damn scary in the wet on Avon ZR1 tyres which were pants in the wet to say the least!

The rear beam is only £50-£150 for a full rebuild using oe parts if you know how to do it yourself and actually it isn't that hard

Hmmmmmmmmm.....I've just been looing at 205Gti's today.

Thinking of getting on for an "everyday" car, and then get aScoob to sit in the garage! lol

as an everyday car it would probably need a good amount of work, but would be very rewarding once sorted. The 'other' 205 gti forum is a great place to learn how to maintain and enhance pugs.

Nearly all of us have had our hands dirty over there

here's me at the start of my latest track monster creation

Was actually going the other way

Sell my car. Get a cheap wagon for knocking about in and a minted 205 of some sort in the garage.

Sorrento green turbo.

OR theres a black Dimma on Pistonheads. Needs work but don't they all. Tidy her up make her mint and then MI her and pop a supercharger on the top. Cage, buckets and magic tree F T W!!

Hows that? do-able?
