Mate in work has got one, he has had it for three years and its been problem free. Only thing really was that the brakes went after 12 months with about 12K on them, he does not drive hard at all. and the stealership charged him over £400 for new brakes. My own observation on it after going to the pub in it a few times at lunch is that the doors are huge, may be problem in a tight parking spot.

My Nephew bought a new one 2 months ago a LOEB special edition one , and its leaked oil ever since he picked it up , been in and out of Wingrove on the Silver Link and they couldn`t fix it . He took it to an independent garage in Cullercoats and they replaced the rocker cover gasket and the job was sorted , bill to Wingrove. He likes the thing to drive but French build quality and dealer back up are as shaky as a ****ting dog !.

I owned a C2 VTS from new before buying my scoob. I was attracted to the car because it gives close(ish) to GTi performance (0-60 in 8.2 seconds) for literally half the price. Also, the big, BIG selling point for me was the insurance group, which was 8! This meant that even having only driven for 2 years with just 2 years NCB, I was paying under £400 fully comp on a car with close to GTi performance.
I loved the car. It's french, so yea, it's not built particularly brilliantly, but in the time I owned it it never let me down once. It has fantastic breaks (I'd say there were sharper than my scooby actually) and ESP which meant it's handling was fantastic (could absolutely cain it around corners, like a bloody go kart!).
The thing that amazes me is how cheap they are to buy second hand. You can pick them up with around 20k on the clock for just £5000, which is absolutely insane considering how much car you're getting for your money.
Basically, it's a fantastic car for a young driver with little experience who's looking for something a little bit feisty.

All this tosh about Frech cars.........
Amongst other cars, I have owned;
2 X 205 GTI's
Citroen VTS
172 Clio.
All the above were cracking cars and I can't fault the mechanics of them.
The C2's look pretty good to me.

My ESP went a bit bonkers in recent monsoon style rain.
The Ford Ka without it that overtook on the M5 aquaplaned and crunched into the central reservation at 80.
I like driver safety aids.

Yeah I know what it is, was questioning how it makes a car handle better. Safer yes, but if anything it stops a car handling.

Not at all.. it doesn't prevent the car from handling in any way, it just means you can rag it as hard as you want around any corner without losing it.. At least that's what I found on the C2, this may differ from car to car I guess.
