Default House is here... new car...

Afternoon all

few weeks ago i mentioned selling my impreza for a more practical car, with the likes of a civic type r being on the short list.

With my overall goal to be back into impreza ownership over the next coming year or so, i'm beginning to waver off buying a flashy civic, and go for something even more sensible.

I have been looking at the TDI route - as to be honest, it will free up a lot of funds for the house, and also allow me to save some pennies.

The main contender, and personal favourite in the Golf.

I'm not very up to date on variations of Golf TDI's and wondered if some people can help...

i think they are all 6 speed, and some if you are lucky have the leather recaro interior, some are 5 door some are 3 door...

i don't want to go crazy and spend 10k on a car.. ideally i would like to see a nice one, with leather as i don't like the fabric trim...

i have had a look on piston heads (of all places lol) and i found the following.. albeit its sold... but is this the sort of thing i should be looking at?

Volkswagen : MkIV Golf GT Tdi 115, 6spd, leather, low miles!

other factors like mileage? 100k milers a problem? or something not worth worrying about... and general resale prospects, as its not something i will own forever...

thanks all.

My lass has a Skoda Fabia VRS which is essentially a TDi 130 Golf under the skin. It looks good, goes great, and returns 48 mpg without driving carefully The best bit is that they're a fair few quid cheaper than a Golf of the same age

They are good but tend to be overpriced, You get more for your money from other manufacturers and other VW models, you get a lot more Passat for the same money.

Wouldn't you rather a 150bhp version? Can't be much more expensive & should be substantially faster than the 115 version ...
