Why is buying a 2nd hand small car so hard??
I have been on the hunt for about 3 weeks for a small car for my wife..
Im only looking to spend aboput £3k, and am after a 206, clio, new shape micra, lupo, etc etc...
I have been viewing autotrader and notice that
1) Most small cars seem to sell within hours of appearing on the website
2) LOADS of them are accident repaired
3) LOADS are being sold by people who are clearly traders pretending to be private sellers...
I have bought and sole LOTS of cars over my years, but never have I found it so damn hard to find a car that is striaght, privately owned and clean!!
What a nightmare, Im now reluctantly looking at leasing her a small car for about £150pm as I simply have had enough of this dodgy side of the car market!

On a more serious note most people owning that sort of car will have no interest in it. Take it to a dealer and trade when you're done idea. at 3k you'll be looking at around 3/4 years old, so around the time the people that bought new will be going back to the dealer for an upgrade (as the 206 has blown up for the 8th time that year).

Best time to buy is earlyThursday morning from the Autotrader website before people have time to buy the mag.
Bought a 2003 New shape Micra for Missus last September for £2695, 33k miles, FSH. Bargain.
Or so I thought....
F***ing thing only needed the timing chain replacing at a cost of £900!

My local dealer is selling a new Panda for £4995.
Great car, wouldn't need a penny spending on it for years - should manage 40+ MPG keep it 3-5 years
