Toyota goes after Civic Type-R
Just a little note, I know its not strictly scooby related but I have just receieved the specs and prices for the new Toyota Corolla T Sport, and thought it might be of interest.
£15,495, 189 bhp, 1798cc, 6-speed gearbox, 16-inch alloys, Group 14 insurance.
Basically the engine and gearbox out of the Celica stuffed into a Civic look a like body, and priced £500 cheaper, though its the same price as a Clio 172.

Hmmm, not driven a T Sport but read several test and its been slated in every one. Vtech band is too narrow for the gearing which means on most gearchanges it drops out of the power band.
Also the handling is soft and the steering numb which is totaly out of charachter with the engine.
Didn't even bother with a test drive in it as I found the Civic TypeR's power delivery too frantic for me.
I ended up with an Alfa Selespeed with VVT, you can feel it coming in at around 3500rpm but it redlines at 7000rpm only 155bhp but in 85% of on road driving I found it felt more powerful than the Civic, when the Civic comes on cam though it is awesome.

Wonder if a certain other manufacturer might learn?
