Default Replacement dates for current Golf/A3?

Does anyone have any info on when the current Golf and A3 are due to be replaced by a new model?
I need to change to 5 doors, and have these wo as potential replacements, but dont want to pay over the odds for one just to have a new model arive in 6 months and current prices to drop.

Also, thoughts on A3/Golf/BMW 1 series? not the high end models, preferably diesel, just a good solid safe hatchback.

Cheers
SSB

Subaru Impreza Hatch out in September. New York Motor Show next month it will be unveiled. Diesel due in 2008.......ponder one for a safe reliable hatch

Nice one, thanks for the info, wont be waiting that long so will start looking seriosuly now.

As far as Subaru hatch goes, Im sort of getting to a stage in life where I want a quality premium brand, and Subaru will never be that, as good as I imagine it will be.
