Was speaking to a man in the know (from Audi) down at York racecourse on Saturday. I was down with my old man, Audi were showing the R8 to customer who have placed an order for the car.
Anyway, i asked him about an RS3? Answer was No. It's not in there model line up, as it would be priced to close to the S4, and be quicker.
Asked about Porsche's share of the VAG group? Answer was that he expects Porsche to take full control very soon.
He said that Lambo would be untouched and would remain within the group, as Lambo are seen as more extream than Porsche, and would not take sales away.
The only thing he said about Audi, was than any chance of a faster more powerful R8 may be quashed by Porsche, as no desision had been made by the current group. He couldn't rule it out though.
Bugatti? May very well be sold off, and stand alone as a company.
As for Porsche making Audi drop it's RS cars? Doubt that. An RS4 is hardly taking sales away from a 911 is it? 2 totally different cars.
Was a shame about the RS3 though, but he did assure me that it will never happen.
I also asked about Audi letting people tune their cars and keep the warranty like they do in Germany. Again pretty much dismissed as a no goer, as he said Germany was a totally different market.
Can't remember this guy's name, but he did work for Prodrive and helped develop PPP kits. He was also involved in the development of the Focus RS (old one)
I asked him about the rumours of Ford making a FWD Focus RS, as reported in AutoCar (or whatever). Again he dismissed this and assured me that Ford know that 280+BHP through the front wheels would be pretty much undrivable. If they make a new RS, it WILL have 4WD.
One of the best and most informative afternoons I've had

Agh crap, i missed that moment
So, if Porsche have taken on Audi does this mean I'll get the DRC problem sorted on the RS corectly?
Maybe it will get fixed for good, not just a replacment till the same thing happens again.
