Question

A friend is looking at an EVO IV - '96 with 40k miles.

As a Scooby owner I'm not too up on these so two questions for you:

1 - How much, roughly, should he be looking to pay?
2 - What to look out for, strengths, weaknesses, good mods bad mods etc...

Cheers
Matt

Thumbs up

Hi,
1.-look to pay between £12-£13000 for a real nice 96.(north west prices)
2.-check the vin number with co-ordsport or ralliart, there was a defect on a few evo 4s which caused the active yaw control to mailfunction (£1000+ to repair),the owner should have had a letter from the colt car company to arrange fixing it.My 96 was unaffected by the recall.
sometimes the engines really rattle, this can be solved by a service (noise caused by lash adjusters).make sure there are lots of bills because they need regular servicing and need the AYC fluid changing every 4000 miles.
also check the track rod ends for noise(clunking, banging)over bumpy roads,as these are also a weak spot on the Lancer.

Your best bet is to visit the Lancer register@ www.lancerregister.com
