Thinking of maybe getting one of these instead of my company car on a car allowance.
I know they are not as quick as a scooby (which i already have so know that for a fact). However done a bit of digging on here and found there are mixed feelings about them.

If i was going to get one i would keep it relatively standard other than an induction kit and maybe change the springs for something a bit better.

They have always appealed to me and i love the sound of them.

Has anyone here got one and what sort of performance and mpg can you get out of them?.

Obviously build quality is very good.

I had one for just over a year.
Performance is pretty good and theirs no "gap" in the power delivery.
Sounds awesome, well put together and grips very well indeed.

Mpg for me was about 23-26 and I gave it plenty of stick.

Reckon you could leave the suspension alone - The handling is very good indeed.
Tuning wise - You can chip it and do a stage 3 AMD and get 300bhp.
A standard one MUST have the v6364 ECU upgrade or the power delivery will be jerky at 2.5k rpm. It's free from VW if not.
I had to sell mine after repeated theft attempts so make sure you have secure parking.

they do look good, sounds easy to get 300bhp then, how much does that cost roughly?.

it will be garaged at night and in works car park by day so should be safe ish

Not sure how much but quite a few have already been done.
Any more than 300bhp and you need a supercharger!

I'd say a couple of grand should do it.

You must of had a good one to get that sort of economy out of it while giving it "plenty of stick",because i had a bit of a play with one when i had my Focus RS and over the course of about 15 miles,the guy i was playing with shown me his fuel computer and that was showing 9.4mpg.....................either that or he had a really bad one!!! LOL

Still a nice car though .

Paul - The "continuous" mpg often dipped below 10mpg but the average was in the low to mid 20s.

I got over 40mpg once when coasting down a hill in sixth!
