Getting an A6 TDI Avant to go round corners
I currently have an A6 TDi avant, i like the car in a straight line, but its bloody useless round bends. Am thinking of dropping some eibach springs and dampers on it. Just wanted to know if anyone here has done it and if it actually improved it to a level where it isn't guess work if youmake round the bend

I have an A6 quattro and it's very good round bends, keeps on gripping, little body roll etc. I hear that it's because all quattros have the sport suspension as standard (could be wrong) so maybe an idea to look at what Audi does when it puts sports suspension on as parts should be easily available. I doubt there's much of a market for 3rd party sports parts as the typical audi a6 owner isn't interested in that sort of thing (apart from those with sport or quattro versions! ). Having said that, I don't know how much of the ability is due to the suspension or the quattro drivetrain (you can't do much about that obviously! ). Is yours a new or prev model A6?
Or sell and buy a quattro

I used to have a MY03 2.5TDI Avant in SE guise. With 235-45?-17 tyres it was pretty good for a car of that weight. What wheel/tyre combo do you have now?

Eibach do them Eibach Springs and Dampers - Pro-Kit springs
Some A6 2.5 tdi's have the sport option with lowered suspension and harsher ride, maybe transfer the bits.
To be honest is it really a car you want to chuck round bends? It's never going to be a sports car, though I do find mine fairly predictable when I do get it sideways on rare occassions.

Could be down to a honking great six cylinder diesel engine sat well in front of the front axle, dont think it will ever really handle. If you want a handler, get a BMW or a Merc. Used to have and Audi 100 and that was a big old barge as well.

I can't sell the car as the missus will hit the roof due to how many cars i have had in past 18 months!!!
I've got an elise for proper fun driving, but i am moving house and my journey to work will be twisty A and B roads and i just want something with a bit less understeer.
Even if i do convince the missus i should change it, i still need a car this big (2 kids and a wife who loves to take the kitchen sink on a trip to the supermarket!). I test drove a new 520d M sport tourer last week as wasn't very impressed, although i think the autobox took a lot of the shine off it. I've had an e39 M5, and think i was expecting too much of the 520d.
