Default 02 Sensor on Astra

Hi Guys,

The local Vauxhall dealer has just rung to say that my wife's car has a faulty 02 sensor that needs replacing.

Does anyone know if this will have been effecting other things, such as economy, smoothness of the engine etc please?

We've only had the car a week, so don't have a "normal" one to compare it to.

Thanks

Steve

02 sensor is another name for Oxygen or Lambda sensor, does that help?

If not, then yes a faulty one could effect economy etc. The ECU knows how much fuel and air went into the engine, by measuring how much comes out in the exhaust it can 'trim' the fueling and ignition to get a better burn. Without accurate results, the mapping would default to a rich mixture and over fuel.
