Default How disappointing? Insurance quote on a Boxster 2.7!

I've had my eye on this Porsche : Boxster 2.7 for a week or two now and thought I'd give Adrian Flux a call for a quote.

Now bare in mind that a couple of years back I had a bit of an off and wrote off a car, I've also been banned for 6 months for totting up. The net result is Adrian Flux would like £2,400 to insure this chap!

Gutted.

I think you're lucky to get away with so little. I wouldn't insure you for that much.

30 yoa, management professional, 7 years no claims, car parked in residence space, no other claims in the last five years, ban for totting up (TT99). I've spoken with A-plan (not Thatcham yet) who'll cover for £1800 when my three years pass in July. Steep, but there you go.

Hiya

Go for chubb insurance, they are unbeliveable!! They dont care if you have any no claims, as long as you have a decent car. I bought a lexus is220dse for a girlie at work and forgot she was 23 with 2 claims and a licence for 1.5 years. They took us on (had put my bmw on cover as well) for £1700 for both cars, any driver fully comp, any driver allowed fully comp with owners permission and all on 12 months interest free. I was like "so whats the catch" and guess what there is none. OOOHHH and also they insure the car for the value and there is no depreciation, its mad. Try calling Greg at Cheam Insurance in London, they are sooo helpfull. Good luck

Im considering a Saab for the Scumball, although James is still interested in a big BMW...

With regards to Porsche insurance: its been a few years since Ive insured a Porsche, but I found that it was a speciality market and brokers with PCGB schemes were sometimes 1/4 of the price of other insurers!

Cheers Simon. Can anyone help with this? Suggestions maybe?

The Saab comment refers to the Scumball 3000 Rally. A Saab is looking more likely now as the BMW has fallen through....

Im sorry that I cant remember (the names of) any of the firms who had good Porsche schemes. In the intervening years a lot might have changed of course, but Id invest £50 or whatever it costs now to join PCGB.

I used to pay 1600 fully comp - 25 years old / full NCD / no claims or convictions / garaged.

1800 with a totting up ban is a good deal!
