Shame it devalues the Dino brand. The original Dino 206 and 246 road cars were effectively half a Ferrari, 2 litre or 2.4 litre V6's (190hp) when the proper Ferraris were double that - 4.5 litre V12's - 300hp and served as a low cost introduction to the Ferrari brand - in exactly the same way that the Boxster/Cayman is to the 911 heritage.
A new Dino at £ 90,000 is hardly an introduction, and its rumoured specifications put it very similar to the current F430.
If they used what Ferrari have access to from within the FIAT network, they could produce a small sportscar without lots of "features" using a Ferrari reworked version of Alfa Romeo's V6, and if they could sell it within the early £ 40,000 bracket, they would have a hit on their hands.

I guess they feel the Ferrari brand is so 'valuable' right now, they don't want to 'devalue' it with a popularised car.
They could effectively cannibalise sales of

If I were a pedant, Id point out that Dinos werent Ferraris. Ferrari badges were added by their owners afterwards; the original yellow badge carries a Dino emblem...

Alfredo Ferrari 1932-1956
Died from muscular dystrophy. Was being groomed as Enzo's successor. Was the only legitimate son of Enzo Ferrari.
The 308GT4 was also badged as a Dino. Late ones were rebranded Ferrari to increase sales.
The Dino 246 GT official parts book *is* badged Ferrari. I have one in front of me.
