My brother had a white one like that in the 2nd photo - was great for getting the back out. And they still turn heads at rallies He also had one of these (same colours):
Which he regrets selling to this day!

Lovely cars I bet he regrets selling it would be worth a fortune now.My cousin has a fully restored Mk1 RS2000 in olympic blue tucked away in a garage.Very rarely comes out but what a head turner.Love the old escort RSs still have something special about them.

DM Multimedia - MK1 Escort RS Work in Progress
You can find something very similar to yours here :
DM Multimedia - MK2 Escort RS1800, RS2000, Mexico Work in Progress
And my real MK1 RS2000 GREAT fun and a complete tonic to the heavy electronic-nanny-laden, TCS, EPS, ABS, PAS modern cars.

It is amazin how the old school Fords have gone, worth a fortune !
I reckon it like anything, when those who had/aspired to one get old and affluent prices rise for anything still around, I do also think that once the same people either get too old or die that prices will stabilise or fall, I mean who, these days can be arsed with old stuff like Healeys if under 60 ?

Had a MkII same as yours : same colour but without the arches.
Loved it and would love to have one again to play about in : stick a 2 litre in it with twin 40s (had a MkII RS2000 with twin Dellorto 40s following the theft of the Mex)

When I was at University (feckin long time ago) the Car Club had a 16mm film of some rally (forget which one ) which included scenes of a Mk 1 Escort going like the hounds of hell through a forest. In best BBC English the commentator said "Not bad for a 1600 GT!". We used to crease ourselves at that

I live near Ironbridge now, but used to go out with a girl from Albrighton when I owned the RS (1989/1990), so it was regulary run around the Shifnal/Albrighton/Beckbury area - great roads for a midnight blast
Was back in 1989/1990.
There was an identical car in Stourbridge when I owned this one.
The pictures were taken when a few of us (4 x RS Escorts) went to the Fast Ford Show somewhere near Oxford.

I used to own a MK1 escort with the mexico engine in it. When all the kids at school were dreaming about countach,s i dreamed about the MK1 i can honestly say it was the best car i ever owned, I had twin tanks in mine and bucket seats and harness,s. My mate blew the engine up and i fitted a 2ltr pinto but never got round to getting it running, the biggest mistake i ever made was getting rid of it and i still miss it now and it was 13 years ago that it went. I would love another but the fact that i saw one in the trader not long ago for 45k sort of put me off as what would you be getting for a few k?
The only other car in my opinion that came close to the MK1 was the MK2 snoop front. Pity ford have lost the way
