Agreed - compacts go for silly money. My mate has just bought and sold a standard 1.6 did a few 'bits' and sold it on for £2k. 3.5k is a fair price for the car. Not a good time of year to sell though

my wife traded in her disgusting Nepal Silver 1.6 compact with M Tech Kit and leather with BMw a couple of months back for 3.2k (56k on the clock 96 model)
I would have thought 3k would be in reach of your car no probs
