What cars have heated windscreens?
I'm starting to look for a replacement for my daily driver, a ford focus. While the subaru get tucked up in the garage the ford's got to make do with the driveway so the heated windscreen is a real bonus over the winter.
Other than fords what makes/models have also got these as I can seem to find it on any option lists?
Cheers

Air con helps demist
My merc demists in around 5-10 seconds at any time
I would think some other makers may do a similar thing? Audi? Bmw? it's just a case of looking for the buttons on the dash

Ford's sole ownership patent has now ran out
The new Westfield SDV based on the Mazda MX-5 has a heated windscreen
You can also now get a replacement one for the Elise.
Neither of which are suitable for daily runners, but you should now not be limited to Ford.

Are parking sensors standard? I think I read somewhere that they were., but I don;t have them. Due to it being a hire car I have had to wait for the *bump* as I hit the wall

Most current cars under Ford group onwership has the quick clear screen.
So from a Ford KA to Range Rovers, Jags, Lincoln, Aston Martin....
Mazda and Volvo don't seem to benefit though, unless it's only on certain models
It's the one thing I miss about not oqning a ford car - need need to scrape off the ice in the morning. Especially the old Escorts where you could switch on, then it would remain on (with a timer) after you switch off the ignition. Meaning I could pop out switch on the front and rear screens, spay a bit of de-icer on the side windows, lock it up and then go back inside and finish off my breakfast. Knowing upon retun all the ice will be melted and I can just drive away.
Also explained why the car had a huge Ah capacity batter and 100amp alternator (standard was about 50amps).

And before anyone asks you do NOT use HOT water - just warm! Never ad a damaged window from doing this in over 20 years ...

The ST TDCI surprised me, firstly because I hired an B class car which is usually a Fiesta but mainly because it was such a nice place to be, leather heated seats, climate control...blah blah....car feels really solid and handles well.
I have an X5 4.4s at the moment and I expect that to be a nice place to be, but most things in the Mondeo compare well including performance as let's just I am yet to see 20mpg from the X5.
Anyway, thinking of changing at the moment and had my eye on an RS6, but may well look into a Mondeo again, with a little porker to keep the fire burning
Sorry for the Hijack

Water re-freezes and I have to stand outside in teh elements whilst teh Fords way is switch screen on, switch off ignition (screen stays on - later cars don't do this), go back inside and keep warm. Once the screen has warmed it does't usually re-freeze unless I leave it for too long (i.e extra portion of toast).

The hot water idea is great in principal but doesn't really work when out and about, leaving work etc.

I wouldn't mind another focus as it's been a great car, the dealers on the other hand . I've had a look but the zetec climates, especially the 1.6 tdci's but they don't seem to start until 11k and the sports don't have the heated screens.

Sorry Guys didn't look at the date though same old questions come round every winter I'm sure.
Yes Focus is a great all rounder but got a hate thing about DPF's just now.
WHY does the EU have to bugger up all modern cars in the name of save the planet emission rules (especially when they rarely work and just cause grief)
1. cats
2. DPF's
3. TGV's (on Scoobies)
4. crazy rfl rates
etc etc
from not really a grumpy old man!

Must admit I always thought of it as a gimmick but now I have this on the RS MK2 I am loving it with the recent cold weather. Start the car up and it comes on automatically when under a certain temp. Do a quick scrape of the driver and passenger windows get back in and I am good to go. Amazed how quickly it heats up compared to the rear and wonder why we still have black lines across the rear windscreen?
Only downside is it does cause a small noticeable glare with oncoming headlights when driving at night. But for the mileage I do at night it’s not even an issue for me.
Can imagine if your windscreen rneeds replacing your insurance company will tell you to have a non heated replacement or foot the entire bill yourself. Would be interested to know if anyone had to do that.

Now heated seats is a gimmick. Never had it myself but been in a few that have and by the time they warm up your car is warm anyway. If they heated up as fast as the front windscreen then they might be of some use.
