5k per year equates to 416 pm gross. Best case after the tax man has his bit and you will most likely be in the 320pm net.
most advertised leases at based on non-maint 10k miles per year. talking 25k per year and the figure will go up.
then add insurance and servicing costs... that's 1.8 vectra country. IMHO

I work for a leasing company so could give you ideas if you need. When you're saying 5k per year, thats 417 quid per month approx. is this 5k plus or inclusive of vat and before or after tax??
But as an idea, unfortunately at 25k per annum you'll struggle to get into anything sporty of a high calibre unless the figure is plus vat AND after tax im afraid 25k is a fair whack to be travelling

re running the scooby. some companies who give out a car allowance have contractual stipulations on car age. to stop you taking your 416pm and driving around in a 15 year old fiesta 1.1l popluar plus.
if this is the case, a car less than 3 years old will be the norm.

That is ismilair to my allownace and I ended up with a 2.0tdi passat estate SE model, nice car but I have kids and dogs so practicality was key to me.
I know colleagues who are in audi A3's but nothing fancy I am afraid.
£500 sounds great until the tax man robs you blind and leaves you with very little .
As most have said you will struggle to get anything other than vectra, mondeo, passat etc. Bear in mind due to better residuals some of the premium brands can be more attainable than you think but spec won't be that high I'm afraid.

weigh up your wage...if it's under the 40% then just go with the Co car and pay the tax. Mine costs me 19 quid a week. if I look at the online calculators for the same car, it nearly doubles.

My Mrs had the choice of car or allowance and really it was a no-brainer for taking the car.
She got a 320d Sport and pays about £170 per month ( 40% tax) and gets a new car every 3 years.
Now, there is no way we could afford that sort of car on an allowance.
The car cost £27k, she does >20k miles pa, so add in the cost to actually purchase the car, then to run it ( had a set of tyres and brakes already at 37k miles, and new rears are soon required), add in depreciation after 3 years and 60 - 70k miles and so it makes no sense to have the allowance, unless we had a smaller car but the 3 series ain't that big, but it is comfy and safe for doing that sort of mileage.
1 more year to go 'till new car! :
