Modding a SMART car!!
A friend is racing a Smart city car this year, and is now working on a new engine!
Does anyone know anyone who might have experience of doing such a task in UK or else where?
Web sites needed as this really is out into the unknown territory...
He must be barking mad.. but why not?

Smarts R Us in Nottingham(i think),or Smartarse in Romsey should be able to help mate.
I used both these companies to mod mine when i had it and both are very good(in my experience).
I had mine remapped, modified air intake, pipercross filter, uprated plugs, and more, lowered, and a smart plug fitted to take all the traction controls and safety devices off along with the speedlimiter which otherwise cuts in at about 85-90mph(from memory),and means you can run to the cars maximum instead ,which with mine was around 110mph until it hit the rev limiter(which could not be removed)

Thanks to all.
Been on ASK and have found 2 players
sw-exclusive.co.uk and bigperformance.co.uk
The car is already close to Brabus tune, and he is now ready for the plunge!
Any other leads most welcome.

Graham, is he using the standard engine and tuning it or going for a bike engine transplant? you can easily get 115-125bhp out of them without too much trouble, you name it you can get it for them, race clutches, blueprinted heads, coilover sus., exhausts, oil coolers, bigger turbos/injectors/inlet pipes/brakes etc. just be prepared to pay over the odds for them The 2 you found are a good start
Not started modding my roadster yet but i don't think it's far away

Hello Kev:
Thought of you when I started this thread, but wasn't sure if you still had yours.
He has just bought another 600 engine , not a bike engine. If he fits a bike engine the car goes into a crazy class on a hillclimb.
This car has hillclimbed seriously all year, and now it is time to get serious.
He has just bought a Brabus turbo with manifold and has the engine in pieces at the moment, wondering where to start!
He is VERY competant with cars to say the least.
Any help is welcome.
Keep it coming.
Graham
