I've just bought a mint escort cossie, replaces an impreza RB5, i luv it to bits but it seems a bit slow compared to the RB5. Because of the showroom like condition i'm reluctant to do any mods - due to the fact i've heard too many stories of things going horiibly wrong. Any advice welcome.

Anybody who has told you of things going horribly wrong, is not giving you factual information.....considering a Large Turbo Escort will run a 330bhp conversion with no problems what so ever.
A stage 1 on your Escort, will only require a chip and actuator and give you between 260-270 real BHP. This conversion is perfectly safe for all the other standard bits that are not touched. If you want anymore power than this, you will have to go the FULL BIG TURBO routine anyhow.
